Chiropractic care reduces healthcare costs and need for surgery

According to the news source Dynamic Chiropractic, in a one-year pilot program performed by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield measuring patient care and cost, it was found that patients that received chiropractic and other physical medicine services were able to significantly reduce costs and need for surgery.  In the study performed in 2008: “Patients who received chiropractic or physical therapy had lower total health care costs and were less likely to have surgery than demographically similar Wellmark members who did not receive such services, and overall, 89 percent of all patients receiving physical medicine services reported improvement of at least 30 percent within 30 days.”  The effectiveness of chiropractic and physical therapy is again validated with this recent study.  Physical medicine and chiropractic care are proven to reduce costs in a healthcare system which has major financial issues.  If you or someone you know has been injured or has chronic pain, feel free to contact our office for complete evaluation and treatment.

Car accidents can cause hidden damage

Studies have shown that minor impacts of less than 10 mph can cause soft tissue injury and possible long term damage.  Even a minor car accident can be a stressfull situation and unfortunately most people worry about the damage to their vehicle before bodily injuries.  It is extremely important to get evaluated by a health professional even if you are involved in a minor collision.  They can determine the extent of your injury and the possibilty of future problems.  In some cases symptoms do not arise for weeks or months after the injury.  Left untreated these injuries can predispose you to possible arthritis and joint degeneration in the future.  If you or someone close has been in an automobile accident please call our office for a free consultation to determine if we can help.  As a chiropractor with physical therapy priveledges I specialize in treating whiplash and auto accident injuries.  At Altacare Chiropractic and rehabiliation we use gentle chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy modalities to return our injured patients to pre-injury status as soon as possible.

You don't have to suffer with chronic pain

There are various reasons we develop chronic pain syndromes.  Previous accident injuries, falls, or other traumas are the obvious culprits.  But if we take a closer look at “micro traumas” or repetitve stress syndromes we see that the innocent desk job can be detrimental to your quality of life by causing chronic, nagging soreness, tightness, and pain.  Chronic upper back, neck, shoulder, and low back pain can be caused be prolonged sitting with poor posture over time.  Scar tissue and adhesions of muscles can develop and worsen over time and we can develop trigger points or knots of muscle in these areas.  By using various muscle release techniques, ultrasound therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and other physical therapies we can help break down this scar tissue and restore function to these areas.  If you you or someone close to you has chronic pain feel free to call us for a free consultation.

Chiropractic care lowers blood pressure?

This video, presented on Good Morning America, shows a University of Chicago study revealing a significant drop in blood pressure after receiving an upper cervical chiropractic adjustment.  Chiropractors have long been interested in the relationship of the spine and the function of body.  As a silver spring chiropractor I studied at Life College of Chiropractic which takes a particular interest in the upper cervical region of the spine and its relationship to the rest of the body.  I’ve had extensive training in the detection and correction of vertebral misalignments, particularly the upper cervical area.  If you would like to come in have your spine checked, please feel free to contact us at 301-608 1545.

Is chiropractic care now mainstream?

Chiropractic care is available to members of the armed forces at more than 40 military bases in the U.S., and at nearly 30 veteran’s administration medical facilities.

The U.S. Congress has authorized that certain chiropractic services for all Americans be covered by Medicare and Medicaid.

Federal employees have chiropractic coverage in the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program and in the Federal Employee Worker’s Compensation Program.

Chiropractic treatment is a covered benefit in virtually all traditional insurance policies. In fact, according to some reports, as many as 87 percent of all insured American workers have coverage for chiropractic services in their health care plans.

All 50 states have authorized the provision of chiropractic care under state workers’ compensation laws.

Chiropractic services are included in the Railroad Retirement Act.

Whiplash is helped with chiropractic care

According to research: “An article published in the Journal of Orthopedic Medicine in 1999 pointed out the superiority of chiropractic care for patients suffering from long term whiplash.  The authors of the article noted that a previous study had shown that 26 of 28 patients, or 93 percent, of patients with chronic whiplash benefited from chiropractic care.  In the authors own study, they interviewed 100 consecutive chiropractic referrals of patients with chronic whiplash.  Their results also showed that of the 93 patients who remained in the study, 69 of them, or 74 percent, found improvement.  The researchers concluded their opening comments with the statement, “The results from this study provide further evidence that chiropractic is an effective treatment for chronic whiplash symptoms.””   Whiplash can be a very painful experience with lasting effects.  It is extremely important to get checked by your doctor of chiropractic if you are involved in any accident.  As a chiropractor in Silver Spring, MD, I frequently address injuries of all kinds, including accidents.  Please contact us if you or someone you know has been injured.
